Aje is proud to join the re-launch of #WeWearAustralian in support of uniting the Australian fashion industry and uplifting local Australians in need. #WeWearAustralian is an initiative founded in 2020 by Showroom-X Co-founders, Kelly Atkinson and Richard Poulson, in response to the immense and unforeseeable impacts the global pandemic had on the Australian fashion industry.
In 2021, this initiative makes its return, anchored with the hope to champion Australian designers, whilst reuniting with charitable organisation Thread Together. Thread Together sources excess and new clothing from Australian designers to redistribute them to Australians in need. Reuniting with Thread Together in 2021 will allow them to drive social, environmental and community change and support communities in crisis to rescue clothes from landfill, and redirect them to people in need.
#WeWearAustralian in 2020 dressed more than 10,000 disadvantaged Australians over the course of three weeks and created a social media movement championing Australian design and talent.
Creative Director of Showroom-X, Kelly Atkinson, shares her favourite new season Aje pieces with the Aje Report to inspire you to support the Australian fashion industry this month, and beyond.
